Amare Stoudemire Talks Knicks at Charity Appearance at the NBA Store

Amare'e Stoudemire at the NBA Store

I had the pleasure of attending the Shop with a Jock event that marked Amare Stoudemire’s first appearance at the NBA Store, (Located at 666 Fifth Ave on the corner of 52nd Street) as a member of the New York Knicks.  There were hundreds of fans there to great him, as well as three young kids, who won an opportunity to go shopping in the NBA store with Stoudemire.  I had a chance to interview him, and Mr. Stoudemire has a quiet confidence that I believe will easily translate to his teammates, and it will be needed.  The Knicks of recent years have seemed to be a team without on-court leadership, and that was a role Stoudemire didn’t have to fill with the Suns, led by two-time Most Valuable Award winner Steve Nash.  Playing for coach Mike D’Antoni will be a bonus for the Knicks, as Mr. Stoudemire stated “I’m pretty familiar with the offense.” That familiarity will be needed, as the Knicks will be expected by many fans to at least contend for their first playoff appearance since 2003-2004.
