Brooklynite Chaz Williams Shines for UMass at Barclays Center by Derrel “Jazz” Johnson

NEW YORK — The Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament made its debut at Barclays Center last Thursday, and after 11 games, crowned Saint Louis the A-10 tournament champions.

Another Barclays Center debut was that of University of Massachusetts Junior point guard Chaz Williams, the Brooklyn product who played high school basketball at Bishop Ford.

Williams and UMass won their opener at Barclays Center last Thursday, knocking off George Washington 77-72. They followed that up by defeating defeated Temple 79-74 on Friday. Unfortunately for the 5-foot-9 star—who lists former Knick and current Bull Nate Robinson as one of his favorite athletes—they failed to advance to the A-10 tournament final when they were knocked off by Virginia Commonwealth University. 71-62.
