Dare I say: New coach or a HUGE change in execution (i.e. not so offensive heavy).
Also, obtaining a big man may be key as well.

Jenn, unfortunately I think the coaching change will not be made, though D’Antoni doesn’t sound confident he’ll be back. They would be a better team with a defensive coach. I mean, you can’t mess up Amar’e and Carmelo. I hear they are supposed to go after Wilson Chandler, who isn’t a big man, so they may go off in the wrong direction.

Unless we can get Dwight Howard from Orlando i would go hard after Chris Paul, who wants too come here anyway. Let him run the point and put Billups at shooting guard. I would then try and get a big man in free agency and draft a couple of big men in the draft. We need some big bodies to clog the middle. Chris Paul would make sure that Amare and Carmelo will get the ball and in the right positions. We can rest Paul and still have Billups and Douglas at back up.

Secondly we need a new coach. I would love to see Mark Jackson get a chance to run the Knicks. D’antoni is not the man for the job. We need to play a little defense. A little defense would get the opposition at least 10 less points again which would give us 10 – 15 more wins. Although we were swept by Boston we should have won the first 2 games. we were simply out coached and unprepared.

Next season will tell it all. We will have a full preson for the players to practice together. We should make noise and challenge for the division title.

I would go after Chris Paul too, there is a chance he may be moved before the trade deadline. The Knicks would be too small with Billups and Paul, I think, plus I like Fields. I don’t think there is enough to Fire D’Antoni, plus with a possible lockout, why hire another coach and still pay the old one?

I don’t think the Knicks can choose Mark, unless it’s in the middle of the season. He is unproven. They need to play more than a little defense.

Hey, I have talked about Doc outcoaching Mike in game one.

Having the preseason will definitely help, and, with Boston getting older, there should be a chance to compete for the division.

We need a defensive presence in the paint. If Billups can’t stay healthy then we need a point guard. Some depth off the bench, and possibly a coach that cares at least a little about defense.

A big man is definitely needed, and I think you have to assume Billups will be healthy. The trade eroded the bench, but it will be better. Also, D’Antoni needs to get more consistency defensively.
