Mavs needs their guards to attact the basket more. They did in the first half and found success, but abandon that part of their game in the 2nd. JJ and Terry would penetrate, but dribble away instead of attacking, and this lead to the Heat closing the defensive gaps much quicker.

Easier said than done with the Heat playing great defense. Mavs need a better game plan to attack and their shooters need to come alive.

Dirk needs to make quick decisions when in scoring positions. The longer he takes to make a move or a decision, the more difficult he makes it on himself because of the Miami defense. Another thing is that Dirk needs to get the ball at the top of the key/high-post area. He then can bring Joel Anthony out away from the basket and give the Heat some problems. Another thing the Mavs have to get is more production from there bench. Besides Terry’s 12, no one really did anything off the bench. They need JJ Barea and Peja Stojakovic to shoot better and play better in general. Defensively, the Mavs need to mix up their defenses more. They aren’t a blessed team in the athletic department as compared to the Heat, so they must keep giving them a different look to throw them off pace a little bit.
