Daily Debate: Philadelphia or New York, Which City Had A Worse Week?

The last week has been one of the worst in recent memories for the City of Brotherly Love and The Big Apple, Philadelphia and New York City.  The New York Yankees, favored to win the pennant, were eliminated from the American League Divisional Series on Thursday by the Detroit Tigers.  The following day, the Philadelphia Phillies, favored to win the World Series, were shutout by Chris Carpenter and the St. Louis Cardinals and sent home.

On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles, favored by many to win the Super Bowl this season,  fell to 1-4 after a 31-24 loss to the Buffalo Bills.  The New York Jets, also predicted by some to win a Super Bowl, including their head coach Rex Ryan, fell to 2-3 after a loss to the New England Patriots 30-21.  Finally, the New York Giants, who were highly favored to defeat the Seattle Seahawks, lost 36-25 after committing five turnovers.

It was bad for both! I was born in Philadelphia. So the Sixers, Eagles, Phillies and Flyers are still my teams. Tough losing 1-0 Phils. Eagles must turn it around with Redskins on Sunday. But thank you Giants for losing to keep division close.

Yankees and Jets have solvable problems. So, they lost…they will be fine.

The Ryan Howard injury should have Phillies fans scared. Imagine that lineup without him in it (last week was your sneak preview).

This one really troubles me as a life-long Eagle fan…I think that team is finished, and not just in terms of this season. I see a team with talent, but no leadership, and I don’t think Andy Reid realizes the depth of the problem.

I think it was honestly worse for New York, especially considering the Giants with the 5 TO’s and the Jets not looking good either

Interesting. I would say Philadelphia, because they had the best team in baseball with over 100 wins, and a team that made the playoffs and lost to the Super Bowl champions, and supposedly improved.
