Daily Debate: Do You Agree with the Suspension of Ozzie Guillen?

Earlier today, Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen was suspended five games for his praise of longtime Cuban leader Fidel Castro in Time magazine. Do you think this was the right decision, or was the suspension too less or two much? Voice your opinion on the Razz and Jazz Sports Blog Daily Debate.

I think suspending him is a no brainier. There is a good chance that he will be stepping aside shortly. Since he is acting as a representative of the Marlins there is an expectation that his actions on and off the field should be beneficial to the organization. Praising the hated enemy of your fan base is not a good career move.

Definitely not a smart move. It will be interesting to see if it has a financial aspect to it. If it does, then they may need to fire him. With the new stadium, name change, and free agent signings, they have a lot at stake this season.

Five games may have been a bit harsh, but Guillen’s comments were ill-advised, and just stupid–especially in Miami, where there is an abundance of Cuban immigrants.
