Exclusive: Former Giant David Tyree Lights Empire State Building by Derrel “Jazz” Johnson

Former New York Giants Wide Receiver David Tyree flipped the switch to light the Empire State Building this afternoon. Tyree, best know for his spectacular 32-yard reception in Super Bowl XLII, lit the Empire State Building, which will be blue, in advance of Big Blue’s NFC Championship game Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

Tyree spoke with the media and talked about his previous rooting interests. “I actually grew up a 49ers fan. I definitely had a (Jerry) Rice jersey.” He also talked about the history of the franchises, saying that Sunday’s game will be “two legendary franchises getting down and dirty in the trenches.”

Below is video from the event.

David Tyree is retired now. Working on his second book, and rooting hard for the New York Giants.

It’s funny that a Super Bowl hero can go from the most popular guy in NYC, to being dropped by the Giants.
