City Sports Report’s Interview With Lizz Robbins

Lizz Robbins bleeds Knicks blue and orange. It's all over her face.

It’s always good to get some feedback from fans of the New York Knicks at City Sports Report. And this week we have Ms. Lizz Robbins. Many may know Lizz from her Twitter dialogue and her radio exploits, but what do you really know about Lizz the Knicks fan? Get to know Lizz and her love for the Knicks a little more right here!

MP: Where are you originally from?

LR: I’m a military brat and have been to a few different places. But I primarily grew up in the DC area.

MP: At what moment in time did you become a Knicks fan?

LR: When Patrick Ewing was drafted was the moment I became a Knicks fans. I’m also a Hoyas fan.

MP: Who is your favorite Knick player of all-time?

LR: Patrick Ewing. He’s actually my favorite basketball player of all time.

MP: What is your most memorable moment as a Knicks fan?

LR: I have so many of them. From Larry Johnson’s 4 point play in the Knicks Finals run, to going 7 games in 1994 in the NBA Finals. I cannot pick just one.

MP: Besides your Knicks, what team do you like watching the most?

LR: The San Antonio Spurs, I really like Coach Popovich’s system, and the basketball fundamentals his team plays with every night out.

MP: What are your hopes for the 2014-2015 New York Knicks?

LR: No one is really giving the team a chance, but I think in the East there’s always opportunity to snag one of those lower seed playoff spots. I think the Knicks could do that.

MP: Do you feel the hire of Phil Jackson and the hire of Derek Fisher will resurrect the Knicks?

LR: I was over the moon about bringing Phil Jackson in. Not only is he former Knick, but he’s also a proven Champion. I think he knows what it takes to get this team to the next level. As for Derek Fisher, I was a little surprised, so it’s more like a wait in see approach there for me. My patience is definitely going to be put to work during the next couple of years.

MP: What is your early NBA Finals prediction?

LR: I think it will be the San Antonio Spurs versus the Chicago Bulls.

MP: What is your favorite NBA basketball player of all-time? Why is he your favorite basketball player?

LR: Patrick Ewing. I loved his dominance as a “Big Man” and I enjoyed watching him in college. I really wish he could have finished out his career with the Knicks.

MP: What things are you up to now career-wise these days?

LR: Besides my full-time job, I do a Sports Update on Monie Love’s show “Ladies First” every Saturday at 6pm on Sirius/XM Backspin Radio Channel 46.  It replays on Sundays at 10pm. I’m also revamping my blog “Robbins Nest”, look for that soon. I will tweet it out when it’s ready to go.

Lizz is definitely a huge Knicks fan and you can bet she will be there cheering for them every step of the way. Be sure to stop through and check out Lizz on Twitter @Lizz_Lockeroom .
