Knicks Go for 6th Straight, 11 of 12 Versus Raptors Tonight by Derrel “Jazz” Johnson

The New York Knicks (13-9) host the Toronto Raptors (8-13) at Madison Square Garden tonight. A win would be their sixth in a row, a feat they haven’t accomplished in nearly five years, when they won six in a row from January 2-13, 2006.

Knick forward Amar’e Stoudemire will try to become the second player in Knick history to score 30 or more in 6 straight games. Many would guess that this feat was only accomplished by Patrick Ewing, but the only Knick to score 30 or more in six or more straight games is Willie Naulls, who accomplished it from February 4, 1962, to March 4, 1962.

Off-season acquisition Raymond Felton has played on an all-star level during the streak as well, and has posted nine double-doubles on the season, including four in his last five games.

The Raptors have lost two in a row, and will look to end that streak against the Knicks tonight. The Raptors are lead by center Andrea Bargnani, who averages 20.2 points and 5.6 rebounds on the season, and Amir Johnson, who is averaging 17 points and 11.3 rebounds in his last three games.

Tip off tonight is at 7:30pm. Follow the Razz and Jazz Sports Blog on Twitter to get live updates and comments from Madison Square Garden @razzjazzsports.
