Knicks Versus Heat Part Four Preview by Derrel “Jazz Johnson

Tonight the New York Knicks face their biggest test yet in their third game since the Carmelo Anthony trade when they head to South Beach to play the Miami Heat for the fourth and final time of the regular season at 8pm on ESPN.  The Heat won the first two match ups these teams played, 113-91 in New York Friday, December 17, 2010, and 106-98 in Miami Tuesday, December 28, 2010.  The Knicks won the last match up at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, January 27, 2011, 93-88.

For the Knicks, Amar’e Stoudemire has averaged 26.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.0 steals through the first three games versus the Heat, while Landry Fields has averaged 9.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the first three games.  Carmelo Anthony scored 21 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 4 assists earlier in the season in a victory against the Heat in Denver, while Chauncey Billups scored 6 points and handed out 13 assists in the game.

Dwayne Wade has lead the Heat in scoring against the Knicks, averaging 33.3 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in three games against the Knicks, while LeBron James has averaged 26.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists in three games.  Chris Bosh, who missed the most recent match up between the two teams at Madison Square Garden, averaged 22.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in the first two games.

Energy appeared to be a problem for the Knicks in their last game against the Cleveland Cavaliers ( ) but that shouldn’t be a problem facing the three all stars of the Miami Heat.  If the Knicks can win, if would give fans a peak into the highest levels this team could reach with The Big Three on Broadway, whereas a loss would strengthen the arguments for those who were opposed to the trade made less than a week ago.  We will all see tonight at 8pm on ESPN.
