Prior to Today’s Game at against the Washington Wizards

New York, NY December 25, 2014 – New York Knicks Center Samuel Dalembert, the Garden of Dreams Foundation and Kia Motors gave a special Christmas present to a family in need this morning. Dalembert and the Garden of Dreams surprised the Curtis family of South Salem, NY with a brand new 2015 Kia Soul before tipoff of today’s game against the Washington Wizards at Madison Square Garden.

Dalembert met the family this past Monday when he was paired with them at the Knicks and Garden of Dreams annual shopping spree. He invited them to attend the game this afternoon and presented them with the new car when they arrived. Dalembert and the New York Knicks made a donation to Garden of Dreams, who secured the Soul through Kia Motors America, a signature partner of Madison Square Garden.  Additionally, the Garden of Dreams is paying the insurance on the car for the first two years, as well as supplying the family with $500 of gas gift cards.

The Curtis family, which consists of Maria, the mother, and her three sons Cole, Iain and Vaughn have been affiliated with the Garden of Dreams Foundation since their performance in last Spring’s annual Talent Show at Radio City Music Hall where the three boys put on an incredible musical performance while playing the violin, cello and piano.

The Curtis family has been fighting an uphill battle since the passing of their father, Curtis Wagner, in 2006. Maria has worked multiple jobs to pay the bills, but last spring she was involved in a terrible automobile accident which left the family without transportation. She and her boys were in desperate need of a safe car that can take her to job interviews and transport her children to music classes. Samuel Dalembert and the Garden of Dreams provided that today. The Curtis Family is part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation through partner organization the Police Athletic League of New York City.
