St. John’s Rysheed Jordan returns to the team

St. John’s point guard Rysheed Jordan has returned to the team and will be available for their next game against Villanova, the school announced.

Jordan took a leave of absence due to personal and family matters, the passing of his grandmother, he returned home to Philadelphia to be with his family.

The news of Jordan’s return is welcomed for the Red Storm, Jordan is the team’s second leading scorer, his average of 14.0 points-per-game, also puts him as the sixth-leading scorer in the Big East.

Jordan missed St. John’s most recent game, a loss to Butler, in which the Red Storm were short-handed. Head coach Steve Lavin played all of his starters at least 34 minutes in the loss to Butler, Jordan’s return will help bring relief and flexibility to their backcourt.

St. John’s is off to an 0-2 start in Big East play this season, with back-to-back losses to Seton Hall and Butler, they’re a team in need of a win. Villanova will be a tough task for the Red Storm, they’re also coming off a loss, to Seton Hall, and will be looking to regain their footing.
