Stoudemire Sits, Celtics knockoff Knicks, 97-84 by Derrel “Jazz” Johnson

The New York Knicks lost a preseason game to the Boston Celtics for the second time in four days to fall to 1-3 in the preseason. Amar’e Stoudemire didn’t play, as Knick Coach Mike D’Antoni decided to rest him, with four preseason games being played in five days. The Knicks were up by 10 points in the third quarter, but the Celtic starters made a run to take the lead for good. Kevin Garnett led the Celtics with 20 points on 9-11 shooting from the field. Paul Pierce added 16, and Glenn Davis and Nate Robinson came off the bench to score 15 and 13, respectively. Danilo Gallinari led the Knicks with 20 points, while Wilson Chadler added 17 and Raymond Felton scored 16 while dishing out 5 assists. Knick rookie Timofey Mozgov started his second game, playing 20 minutes, scoring 7 points with two blocks and two rebounds.

The Knicks are back in action to day at Madison Square Garden, as they face the Washington Wizards.
