Tebow Terminates the Jets by Derrel “Jazz” Johnson

The Legend of Tim Tebow continues to grow as he led the Denver Broncos on a 95-yard drive with 5:54 left in the fourth quarter to defeat the New York Jets, 17-13. Tebow accounted for all but 3 of the 95 yards on the drive, as he ran for 57 yards and threw for 35 more. With the loss, the Jets have now lost two games in about 76 hours, and drop to 5-5.

The Broncos started the scoring with a 37-yard field goal with 5:08 left in the first quarter, but the Jets tied the game at three in a match up that featured below-average quarterback play from quarterback Mark Sanchez of the Jets and quarterback Tim Tebow of the Broncos.

The Jets scored a touchdown on their first possession of the third quarter to take a 10-3 lead on a fluke play in which left guard Matt Slauson recovered a fumble by running back Bilal Powell. With the struggles of the Broncos offense and the reputation of the Jets defense, the Jets seemed to be in full control after this touchdown. After stopping the Broncos two times, the Jets had the ball again when Sanchez threw a pass that was intercepted by Andre’ Goodman and run back 26 yards a for game-tying interception.

The Jets would drive to take the lead at 13-10 on a 45-yard field goal by Nick Folk to give them the lead, but that was before Tebow’s magic. Tebow ran for 68 yards and went 9-20 for 104 yards. His counterpart was 24-40.

At 5-5, and with some tough games on the schedule, it will be difficult for the Jets to make the playoffs. The Houston Texans, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinatti Bengals, New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, and Oakland Raiders all have better records than the Knicks in the AFC, and they would have to pass them in the standings to make the playoffs.

The Jets look to rebound a week from Sunday when they face the Buffalo Bills in 10 days at Met Life Stadium.

I’m really disappointed with Sanchez this year, I know many people will ridicule me for saying this, but I wanted Josh Freeman more than him the year he was drafted.
