City Sports Report

Week 4 NFL Top 10 Rankings

1.Kansas City Chiefs. They are the only undefeated team in the league, and that alone makes them number one. Do I expect them to go undefeated for the entire season? No, but as long as they keep winning, they have to remain number one.

2.New Orleans Saints. The defending Super Bowl champions have one loss, and that one loss came in overtime after Garrett Hartley missed a 29-yard field goal that would have given them the victory. Drew Brees will continue to lead the Saints to double-digit victories.

3.Baltimore Ravens. Quality victories against the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as a solid defense and offense that will continue to improve with the acquisition of Anquan Boldin, place this Joe Flacco-led team in the number three spot.

4.Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are 3-1 without the leadership of their starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who has completed his four-game suspension and will return in the next game. Troy Polamalu leads a defense that is among the best in the league, one that will keep the Steelers in any game they play this season.

5.New York Jets. The Jets once again have a dominant defense, but it is the leadership of second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez that is making waves, as Sanchez has thrown for eight touchdowns and zero interceptions on the year. The return of Darrelle Revis, and the end of the suspension of Santonio Holmes makes the Jets a team with the ability to improve.

6. Green Bay Packers. The Packers have one loss in which they dominated play, and easily could be undefeated. They have a solid defense and passing game, but they must improve their rushing average, which is under four yards per carry, to open the field up.

7. Houston Texans. The Texans get much-needed speed on defense going forward with the return of defensive back Brian Cushing. Matt Schaub to Andre Johnson is one of the best QB/WR combinations in the league and those two have the ability to connect on a touchdown play of any length.

8. Atlanta Falcons. Matt Ryan and Michael Turner lead a versatile offense that is ranked sixth in the league and Tony Gonzalez, second on the team in receptions and yards, brings the leadership. Atlanta will be a tough out in the playoffs.

9. Chicago Bears. I have never seen a quarterback assaulted the way that Jay Culter was assaulted, and neither has anyone else, as the Giants set a record for most first half sacks in a game, the last leading to a concussion on Culter and him being out today.

10.New England Patriots. The recent trade of Randy Moss weakens the offense for this season, but with new weapons () and the veteran Wes Welker, along with the leadership of three-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, the Patriots are a team no one in the league is happy to face.
